Covers the Design Eye Chrome extension 0.3.4, Mac app 0.11.8 and Windows app 0.12.0-beta.7.

What the extension handles

Design Eye captures content only when you select a capture action. This includes a selected web image, a screenshot of the visible page, or a PNG image read after you click Annotate clipboard. Captures include the source page title and URL when available. Clipboard captures use the active page as context; that page may not be the image's original source. Captured pixels may contain personal or sensitive information visible in the content you select.

The extension stores a pairing code/token, capture status and a waiting capture in Chrome's local extension storage. Waiting captures include the selected image and source context and may remain until they are successfully transferred, discarded, or the extension is removed. It does not use Chrome sync storage.

How information is used and transferred

Captures are sent to the authenticated Design Eye desktop bridge at http://127.0.0.1:38473 on your own computer. The HTTP loopback transfer is local and is not a connection to a developer-hosted cloud service. Pairing tokens authenticate that transfer; keep them private.

Selected online images are downloaded from the image's source host. The request may include credentials handled by Chrome for that site. The extension does not read or store website cookies or website passwords. Image-source websites may receive requests and handle them under their own policies.

The extension reads only PNG clipboard image data for the explicit clipboard action. It does not continuously monitor the clipboard, read clipboard text, track browsing history, record keystrokes or capture pages in the background. Page title and URL are captured only as context for the reference you request.

Large images can be converted to PNG and resized into a smaller copy before transfer. You are asked before a resized capture is sent. The original source image or clipboard contents are not overwritten.

There are no advertising, analytics or AI services in the extension. Captures and pairing credentials are not sent to the publisher. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising, unrelated purposes, creditworthiness or lending decisions. Design Eye's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Desktop app and optional services

The desktop app saves received references, observations and design notes on your computer. Disconnecting or removing the extension does not delete captures already saved in the desktop app.

If you choose Figma sync, content you sync is handled by Figma under its own policies. If you give taste.md or reference images to a separate AI agent, that provider's policies govern those requests. The Chrome extension does not initiate Figma sync or AI requests. Exports, backups and feedback you choose to share are under your control.

Retention and controls

A successfully transferred pending capture is removed from extension storage. Discard clears the waiting capture. Disconnect clears pairing credentials and the waiting capture; status text may remain until overwritten. Removing the extension removes its local extension storage, subject to Chrome's own handling of browser profiles and backups.

To delete copies already saved in Design Eye, use the desktop app's deletion controls or remove its library files deliberately. Trash may preserve restorable content; deleting a capture from the extension does not delete desktop copies, exports, backups, linked Markdown files or content synced to Figma. Manage those copies separately.

You can revoke clipboard and website access in Chrome's extension settings or remove the extension. Revocation may prevent capture features from working. Changes

We will update this notice when data handling changes and revise its effective date. Review the notice for the extension version you install.

## Website and downloads

This download page is hosted on Vercel. App files are served through GitHub Releases. Those providers receive ordinary requests for pages, assets and downloads, including information such as IP addresses, under their own policies. This site has no analytics, ad pixels or signup form.

If you email support, your email provider and the support mailbox process the message you choose to send. Feedback may include your contact information and attached content. Do not include pairing codes or sensitive references.

Desktop library and design notes

The desktop app stores reference images, observations, highlights, collection metadata and generated taste.md notes on your computer. Imports, paste and screen capture are user-invoked; the app does not continuously record your screen or monitor the clipboard. Generating taste.md uses local code, not an AI service.

A full backup may include images, Trash, personal notes and optional learning snapshots; it excludes pairing credentials. Share backups deliberately. Removing the desktop app does not automatically remove its library, backups or externally linked Markdown files. Find the current file paths in Settings. Delete files you intend to remove, and manage copies in Figma separately.

Your appearance preference (Light, Dark or System) is saved locally in your browser or app. The Figma companion stores this preference using Figma’s plugin storage.
