Good design catches your eye.
Keep what makes it good.

Collect the designs you love. Highlight what stands out.
Turn your observations into a design point of view.

On your screen.

Capture a region with your own shortcut. A compact editor opens right where you’re working.

While you browse.

Right-click an image in Chrome, or copy a PNG and choose Annotate clipboard.

Already saved?

Paste or add an image, then organise it into collections.

01 / Notice the detail

Go beyond
“I like this.”

The spacing. The button hierarchy. The way a whole page comes together. Highlight the part you mean and leave an observation while it’s fresh.

02 / Build your point of view

Your references become
more than a moodboard.

Every observation adds to your taste.md design notes. The app keeps this readable, local file up to date as you save or edit annotations.

The reference, the detail, and your reason for saving it—kept together.

03 / Put your eye to work

Bring your eye into
your next project.

Invoke the Design Eye skill in your AI agent. It reads your taste.md, finds relevant references, and helps apply your observations to the task at hand.

A direction to explore. A draft to critique. A detail to implement. Your references become context for the work.

04 / Keep your workflow

Think in Design Eye.
Refine in Figma.

Link a Figma file and keep the companion open. Images and linked annotations sync both ways, so your observations can travel with the design.

Offline? Keep collecting. Pending changes wait for the connection to return. Figma is optional.

How to connect Figma

Try it in your own workflow

Your next reference
starts here.

Each download includes the app, Chrome extension, Figma companion, setup guides and the skill for using your design notes with AI agents.

These are unsigned private beta builds. Mac is ad-hoc signed and not notarized; Windows is a portable x64 app. Your system may show a security warning. Read the setup guide before installing.

A few things to know

Before your first capture.

Do I need Figma to use Design Eye?

No. Capture, annotate, organise and update your design notes directly in the app. Connect Figma when you want to work there too. Native Figma annotation access depends on your plan and permissions.

What comes in the download?

The desktop app, Chrome extension, Figma companion, setup guides and Design Eye skill. Start with the app, then connect the extras you want.

Where do my references and notes live?

Your library is stored on your computer. Design Eye updates your taste.md automatically and preserves personal notes outside its generated section. Syncing to Figma or sharing notes with an AI agent is optional.

Can I keep capturing after closing the window?

Yes. Leave Design Eye running in the menu bar or system tray. Your shortcut keeps working until you fully quit the app.

Behind Design Eye

Made by a designer,
for a better design eye.

I’m Iyodo David, a design engineer who designs, builds, and teaches. I created Design Eye to keep more than references—to capture why a design works, and carry that thinking into what we make next.
